Product Shipping

Set shipping methods, delivery times, prices and local pickup for each physical product, and see how they combine at checkout.

Each physical product has its own shipping options, set in the Shipping section of the add/edit product form. Digital products don't use shipping.

The rules

  • Up to 3 shipping methods per product. Add Shipping Method disappears once you have 3.
  • A product must have either a method named Standard Shipping or Available for pickup turned on, or both.
  • If you add any shipping methods, one of them must be named exactly Standard Shipping (capital letters don't matter).
  • Each method on a product needs a different name.

These rules exist because at checkout buyers can only choose methods that every product in their cart offers. Requiring Standard Shipping makes sure a cart of shippable products always has at least one method in common.

Setting up a shipping method

Click Add Shipping Method and fill in:

FieldDetails
Shipping MethodPick a suggestion (Standard Shipping, Economy Shipping, Express Shipping, Expedited Shipping, Standard Air Shipping, Standard Sea Shipping, Standard Road Shipping) or type your own name, up to 50 characters
Delivery Time1-2 business days, 1-7 business days, 7-14 business days, 14-21 business days, 21-28 business days, or 1-2 months
PriceShipping cost per item, from 0 to less than 1,000,000. Turn on Free to make this method free.

Use Remove to delete a method.

Use the same method names across your products, for example "Standard Shipping" and "Express Shipping" everywhere. If one product offers "Express Shipping" and another offers "Express Delivery", a buyer who orders both won't see either express option.

Available for pickup

Turn on Available for pickup to let buyers collect the item from you instead. A product can be pickup-only, with no shipping methods at all.

Pickup appears at checkout only if:

  1. Pickup is turned on in your store's pickup settings (see Pickup settings), and
  2. Every product in the cart has Available for pickup turned on.

When pickup is available and the product is in stock, the product page says "in stock (pickup available)".

How shipping is charged at checkout

  • Per item: a method's price is multiplied by the quantity. Two units at $5 Standard Shipping costs $10.
  • Across products: the buyer sees only the methods that every product in the cart offers. The prices for each product are added together.
  • Delivery time: if products in the cart have different delivery times for the same method, checkout shows the longest one.
  • Mixed carts: a cart that mixes pickup-only products with products that can only be shipped can't be checked out together. The buyer is asked to place separate orders.
