Adding Categories
Create categories to group your products, services and events into browsable sections of your store.
Categories group your listings into sections buyers can browse, such as "Clothing", "Home Decor" or "Art Prints". Each category gets its own page and appears in your store's Shop menu.
Your categories are shared by your products, services and events. One list covers all three.
Category limits

The name and code All are reserved, because your store already has an "All" link.
Creating a category
Open Categories
Click Categories in the sidebar (under Catalog), then click Add Category.
Enter a name
Type a Category Name. Buyers see this in the Shop menu and as the category page title.
Set the code
The Category Code is the end of the category's web address: e2c.store/your-store/categories/your-category-code.
- Lowercase letters, numbers and single hyphens only. No spaces, no leading or trailing hyphen, no double hyphens (
home-decorworks,home_decorandart printsdon't). Capital letters are converted to lowercase. - Click Generate to build it from the name. If that code is taken, a random number is added.
Save
Click Add Category. The category is active straight away.
Creating a category while adding a product
In the product form's Category dropdown, choose + Create New Category and type a name. The category is created when you save the product, and its code is generated automatically. You can change the code later on the Categories page.
Assigning listings to a category
Each product, service or event can belong to one category, or to none. Set it in the Category dropdown of the item's edit form and save.
Where categories appear
- Shop menu: every active category is listed in your store's Shop menu, alphabetically. This includes categories with no listings yet.
- Category page:
your-store/categories/your-category-codeshows the active products in that category, with sorting and pagination. - Sidebar counts: product and search pages list your categories with a count of active listings in each.
An empty active category still shows in the Shop menu, and buyers who open it see an empty page. Deactivate a category until it has listings.
