Managing Messages

Learn how to view, reply to, and organize customer messages.

The Messages section in your admin dashboard is your central hub for customer communication. It functions like an email inbox but is built specifically for your store.

Accessing Your Inbox

  1. Log in to your Admin Dashboard.
  2. Click Messages in the sidebar.
  3. You will see the Inbox view by default.

The Message Interface

The messaging interface is divided into three main tabs:

  • Inbox: New and received messages from customers.
  • Sent Messages: Replies you have sent to customers.
  • Trash: Deleted messages.

Message List

The list shows:

  • Sender Name: Who sent the message.
  • Subject: The topic of the message.
  • Preview: The first few words of the message content.
  • Date/Time: When the message was received.

Unread Messages appear in bold text. Once you open them, they will appear in normal text.

Reading Messages

To read a message:

  1. Click on the message in the list.
  2. The message will expand (accordion style) to show the full content.
  3. You can see the customer's full details, including their email address.

Replying to Messages

You can reply to customers directly from the dashboard. Your reply will be sent to their email address.

Open the Message

Click on the message you want to reply to.

Click Reply

Click the Reply icon (curved arrow) in the top right corner of the expanded message.

Compose Your Reply

A modal window will appear.

  • Subject: Pre-filled with "Re: [Original Subject]". You can edit this if needed.
  • Message: Type your response in the text area.

Send

Click the Reply button to send the email.

The message will be moved to your Sent Messages tab, and the customer will receive an email notification.

Organizing Messages

Keep your inbox tidy using these tools:

Mark as Read/Unread

  • Select one or more messages using the checkboxes.
  • Click the More Actions (three vertical dots) button in the toolbar.
  • Choose Mark as Read or Mark as Unread.

Deleting Messages

  • Select the message(s) you want to remove.
  • Click the More Actions (three vertical dots) button.
  • Choose Trash.
  • The message moves to the Trash tab.

Recovering Messages

If you moved a message to Trash by mistake:

  1. Go to the Trash tab.
  2. Select the message.
  3. Click the Recover icon (pulse/activity icon) in the toolbar.
  4. The message will return to your Inbox.

Searching

Use the search bar at the top of the message list to find specific messages by sender name or subject.
