About Us Page

Create a compelling About Us page with banners, content, and team member profiles.

About Us Page Customization

Your About Us page is one of the most visited pages on e-commerce sites. It's where customers connect with your brand story, learn about your mission, and build trust before making a purchase.

Why the About Us Page Matters

Studies show that About Us pages are among the top 5 most visited pages on e-commerce sites. Customers want to know:

  • Who they're buying from
  • Why you started your business
  • What makes you different
  • How you create or source your products

Stores with well-crafted About Us pages see 20-30% higher conversion rates. People buy from people, not faceless websites.

Accessing About Us Settings

Navigate to Customize Store in your admin dashboard and select the About Us Page tab.

You can preview your About Us page at any time by clicking the preview link at the top: https://e2c.store/[your-store-name]/about

The banner image appears at the top of your About Us page, setting the tone for your story.

Titles and Subtext

Your About Us page features two sections with customizable titles and subtexts. These create structure and guide readers through your story.

Configure Section 1

Title 1: The heading for your first content section

  • Common examples: "Our Story", "Who We Are", "About [Store Name]"

Subtext 1: Supporting text or tagline beneath Title 1

  • Keep it concise (5-15 words)
  • Example: "Handcrafting quality products since 2020"

Configure Section 2

Title 2: The heading for your second content section

  • Common examples: "Our Mission", "What We Stand For", "Why We Do It"

Subtext 2: Supporting text beneath Title 2

  • Example: "Creating sustainable products that make a difference"

Save Titles and Subtext

Click Save Changes to update your section headers.

Title and Subtext Best Practices

  • Be specific: "Handmade Jewelry in Portland" beats "About Us"
  • Show personality: Let your brand voice shine through
  • Create intrigue: Subtexts should make visitors want to read more
  • Keep it scannable: Clear section titles help readers navigate

About Us Content

The main content area is where you tell your full story using a rich text editor.

Access the Content Editor

The content editor uses a rich text format with formatting options including:

  • Headers (H1, H2, H3, H4)
  • Bold, italic, and underline styling
  • Code blocks (for technical stores)

The editor uses a "What You See Is What You Get" (WYSIWYG) approach—formatting appears as it will on your live page.

Write Your Story

Suggested structure:

Opening Hook (1-2 paragraphs)

Start with why you started your business or what problem you're solving.

Example:

I started [Store Name] because I couldn't find quality [product type]
that were both affordable and ethically made. After years of searching,
I decided to create my own.

Your Journey (2-3 paragraphs)

Share how you got started, challenges you faced, and what you've learned.

Your Products/Process (1-2 paragraphs)

Explain what makes your products special—materials, craftsmanship, sourcing, etc.

Your Values (1-2 paragraphs)

What do you stand for? Sustainability? Quality? Community? Customer service?

Closing (1 paragraph)

Thank customers and invite them to shop or reach out.

Format Your Content

Use the toolbar to:

  • Add headers to break up text and create structure
  • Bold key phrases to emphasize important points
  • Keep paragraphs short (3-5 lines) for readability
  • Use code blocks only if relevant to your products (e.g., tech products)

Don't write a novel: Aim for 300-500 words. Longer content should be broken up with headers and formatting to remain scannable.

Save Your Content

Content Writing Tips

Do:

  • Write in first person ("I" or "we")
  • Be authentic and genuine
  • Show your personality
  • Connect your story to customer benefits
  • Include specific details (where, when, how)
  • Proofread carefully

Don't:

  • Write in third person ("The company was founded...")
  • Use corporate jargon or buzzwords
  • Make it all about you (connect to customer value)
  • Leave it generic or template-like
  • Forget to explain what you actually sell

Content Template

Not sure where to start? Use this template:

Team Members

Introduce your team with photos, names, and roles. This humanizes your brand and builds trust.

Add Team Member 1

Upload Photo:

  • Click Upload new image under Team Member 1
  • Recommended: Square images (500px × 500px)
  • File size: Maximum 3MB
  • Content: Clear headshot or portrait

Enter Details:

  • Full Name: Team member's full name
  • Role: Their position or responsibility (e.g., "Founder", "Designer", "Head of Customer Service")

Team photos don't have to be formal headshots. Casual, authentic photos often work better for small businesses.

Add Team Members 2 and 3

Repeat the process for additional team members. You can feature up to 3 team members.

Team member ideas:

  • Store owner/founder
  • Key employees
  • Family members who help
  • Artisans or makers
  • Business partners

If you're a solo operation:

  • Feature yourself in all three slots with different photos (working, creating, etc.)
  • Leave slots 2 and 3 empty if you prefer
  • Feature "team members" even if it's just you and your dog! (Seriously—customers love this)

Save Team Information

After adding all team members, click Save Changes.

Team Member Best Practices

Photos:

  • Use consistent style (all color or all black/white)
  • Similar lighting and backgrounds
  • Clear, high-quality images
  • Faces should be visible and smiling (if appropriate)
  • Square aspect ratio works best

Names and Roles:

  • Use full names for individuals
  • Be creative with roles ("Chief Coffee Maker" can work if it matches your brand)
  • Keep roles short (2-5 words)
  • Avoid overly formal titles for small businesses

Storytelling Strategies

Story Arc Approaches

The Passion Project Story

"I fell in love with [craft/product] and wanted to share that passion with others."

Used by: Artisans, hobbyists-turned-sellers, makers

The Problem Solver Story

"I couldn't find [product type] that [met specific need], so I created my own."

Used by: Innovators, product designers, niche market fillers

The Heritage Story

"This is a [family tradition/cultural craft] passed down through generations."

Used by: Traditional craftspeople, family businesses, cultural products

The Transformation Story

"[Experience] changed my life, and I wanted to help others [benefit]."

Used by: Wellness products, coaching, life improvement products

Choose the story arc that's genuinely true to you. Authenticity is more important than following a formula.

Mobile Optimization

Your About Us page automatically adapts to mobile devices:

  • Banner images scale appropriately
  • Content reflows for narrow screens
  • Team members stack vertically
  • Text remains readable at all sizes

Mobile considerations:

  • Keep paragraphs short (easier to read on small screens)
  • Use headers to break up content
  • Test readability on actual mobile devices

Examples of Great About Us Content

Example 1: Handmade Jewelry Store

Our Story
Crafted with love in Portland, Oregon

I started Luna Jewelry in 2018 after struggling to find affordable,
ethically-made jewelry. Every piece in our collection is handcrafted
in my Portland studio using recycled metals and conflict-free stones.

I believe jewelry should be beautiful, meaningful, and guilt-free.
That's why each Luna piece comes with a guarantee: ethically sourced
materials, fair wages for artisans, and designed to last a lifetime.

When you wear Luna Jewelry, you're not just wearing beautiful jewelry—
you're supporting sustainable practices and traditional craftsmanship.

Our Mission
Beautiful jewelry that makes a difference

We donate 5% of profits to environmental causes, because protecting
our planet matters as much as creating beautiful things.

Example 2: Home Decor Store

About Modern Haven
Creating spaces you love to live in

Modern Haven was born from a simple idea: everyone deserves a beautiful
home, regardless of budget. After years as an interior designer, I saw
how expensive quality home decor could be. I decided to change that.

We work directly with manufacturers to bring you designer-quality pieces
at accessible prices. No middlemen, no markups—just beautiful, functional
home decor that doesn't break the bank.

Every product is personally selected and tested in my own home before
we offer it to you. If it's not good enough for my space, it's not good
enough for yours.

Why Choose Us
Quality you can trust, prices you'll love

We believe beautiful spaces shouldn't be a luxury. With Modern Haven,
creating your dream home is finally within reach.

Common Questions

"How long should my About Us content be?"

Aim for 300-500 words. Enough to tell your story, but not so long that visitors lose interest.

"Should I include pricing or product information?"

No—save that for product pages. The About Us page is about your story, not selling specific items.

"Can I add photos within the content?"

Currently, the content editor is text-based. Use your banner image and team member photos for visual elements. For more complex layouts, consider using the Hero Builder for custom pages.

"What if I don't have a team?"

That's fine! You can:

  • Feature just yourself in one spot
  • Leave team member slots empty
  • Feature pets (customers love this!)
  • Feature "behind the scenes" roles

"Should I update my About Us page?"

Update it when:

  • Your story or mission evolves
  • You hit major milestones (X years in business, X products sold)
  • You expand your team
  • You're rebranding

Don't update it just to update it—authenticity matters more than freshness.
